Aims
The primary aims of EALTA are:
- To share professional expertise in language testing and assessment
- To increase assessment literacy and public understanding of language testing and assessment
- To promote recognition of language testing and assessment as a professional discipline throughout Europe
- To improve language testing and assessment systems and practice in Europe
- To provide training in language testing and assessment
- To make expertise in language testing and assessment readily available for the solution of assessment problems
- To develop links with other groups interested in language testing and assessment
- To engage in other activities for the improvement of language testing and assessment in Europe
- To provide opportunities to share and solve problems related to language testing and assessment
Activities
- EALTA holds an Annual Conference
- EALTA runs an unmoderated Listserv for members.
- EALTA engages in training in language testing through a variety of means: regional workshops; the creation of reading lists; the development of web-based distance courses; residential courses, webinars, summer/winter schools.
- EALTA maintains a register of experts (expert members) in language testing and assessment who are available for advice, training and consultancies.
- EALTA organises consultancies and advice to institutions, agencies, NGOs and governmental and international bodies in matters of assessment policy and practice, test development and validation and equivalence, recognition and use of test results and outcomes of assessment procedures.
